Allyu Spa is a place where you can waste your money.
Lethargic management, unhappy stressed out personell, bad energy. Sertainly not the place to enjoy and relax, especially for the money they charge. They tend to be really cheap when it comes with expenses that would provide safety for their clients.

Huzzah Allyu Spa!
Ok, first off, the name of the spa is pronounced ah-you. As in the noise you will be making if you go here (ah!) and the person this place is all about (you! or me, I guess).
Allyu is a sustainable and earth conscious spa in Chicago's River North neighborhood. They offer acupuncture, massage, facials, an infrared sauna and nail treatments. The business started out as The Art of Healing over on Ashland near Division & Milwaukee and the owner is a massage therapist so she knows her stuff when it comes to good massage. The cream they use in the massages is absolutely divine as well. In the facials, the Astara skincare line is used. This line is a raw botanical dream. I really like the violet flame mask and the golden flame mask. The radiance renewal intense moisturizer has saved my skin this winter. In the manis and pedis, they use SpaRitual nail lacquer and make a lot of their scrubs in house.
There is a tented area in the center of the space, it is gorgeous and peaceful. When I first discovered Allyu, one of the front desk girls gave me a really informative tour about where everything in the spa came from and then let me hang out in the tent with some tasty cinnamon tea. They also did a really good job answering my questions about their retail products. When they didn't know the answers about something, they found someone who did or looked it up for me. I haven't had a facial here yet, but I did have one of their estheticians talk to me about Astara and help me pick out products that would fit my needs.
The treatments I did receive was acupuncture and massage. The acupuncturist, Lisa, was super informative. I ask a lot of questions and talk a lot and she was really patient with me. We talked a lot about detox and I have seen some really positive results after my treatment and chosen at-home course of action.
This is definitely a place to check out.

Chicago has an Organic & Sustainable spa!
Allyu seems to be the closest thing I've found in Chicago to an organic and sustainable spa. Located in the lower level of that enormous building, it is a nice space full of earthy and sustainable materials, plants and a river view. Customer service was top notch. They use a nail polish called Sparitual, which has certified organic ingredients, is vegan and is sold in their lobby. It is however not rated on the Cosmetic Safety Database just yet. I've had a manicure and pedicure (Vernita is great) and most recently my first Shiatsu massage, which was also great. They offer many services including acupuncture, facials, reflexology, saunas, waxing, and massage. They also feature wellness seminars. I can't wait to try the sauna!
