Our planet will thank Al Gore
Sometimes I wonder if this whole green awareness would be where it's at without Al Gore's movie. I really don't think that it would.
I felt the movie did an amazing job of showing the audience exactly how seriously and how quickly our planet is reaching the "tipping point" for climate crisis. If this were where it ended, I would have stepped in front of a bus when I walked out of the theatre.
Instead, Gore demonstrates how quickly we can stop these numbers from rising by starting with small changes. Most documentaries make me leave feeling rather empty and helpless, but an Inconvenient Truth was accessible enough to make even my parents start to make small changes. It is the small changes that every single person can make that will contribute to the larger picture.
While it is true that Al Gore may be riding around in a private jet to get to a number of his speaking engagements, I'd say his contribution (monetarily, through this documentary, through his poitics, etc) is offsetting any jetsetting he may be doing.
This movie is a big factor in tipping green living to a larger market. I bought a copy and passed it on to a family member and asked that it get passed on and on to whoever they find that hasn't seen it. I hope it is still being passed down the line, perhaps to people I've never met.

The right thing isn't always convenient...
Al Gore should have gone in this direction years ago. This movie shows him at his best -- articulate, intelligent and very well spoken. The movie is about a difficult topic but it's presented with grace and patience -- and the best damned PowerPoint ever. He uses statistics well -- and it's clear Al Gore's been really getting involved in the subject.
This movie should be required for all high school students -- once a year at least.

Global Heating! - Warm too Soft a Word for the Crisis We're In
I became much more aware of the global warming crisis we are in through Al Gore's DVD lecture presentation of "An Inconvenient Truth". Now, his book is required reading for a year-long, sustainable business course I am taking through our local community college. As I go through his book, I am once again reviewing the cold, hard evidence we have that proves we are rapidly reaching the tipping point (I think we already have). If not already too late, each one of us must share the responsibility to take immediate action to do our part to slow or stop global heating. I found the presentation to be very enlightening. I am not interested in being entertained, I am only interested in substantiated facts, which I believe Gore amply provides the viewer. The photography and graphs in the DVD and in his book are excellent tools to drive his points home. With clearly stated information broken down into bite-size chunks, and visuals that any elementary age child or uneducated adult can understand, just about anyone will be able to picture what the future holds for all of us, especially if we fail to individually and collectively take action now. I think Gore's message would have far greater impact if he would tell it like it really is - our planet is not leisurely warming, our planet is rapidly heating up...according to scientists, just two more degrees and we're toast!
Whether or not Gore has all of his own green ducks in a row, his message is one that needs to be heard. It is our responsibility to learn all we can, do all we can, to be the change we want to see in the world. Brilliant Powerpoint
This film is worth seeing just for a chance to see perhaps one of the finest Powerpoint presentations you'll ever witness secondhand. The cinematography is also astounding. As far as the whole message goes, it is a sincere one on the part of Mr Gore -- so it also provides a window into his personal life. It seems to be as much about him as it is about global warming and the state of the planet. It's cool to see how passionate and knowledgeable Mr Gore is about these issues -- he's certainly no newbie, so it's "for real" -- and this commands my adamant respect for the man.

Good Message, Boring Movie
After watching the exciting preview, the movie was not quite as exciting as I had expected. Al Gore makes many good points about his message, although the Upton Sinclair quote in his movie accurately reflects his conflict of interest (which he "conveniently" fails to mention in the movie) about his ties to the Angus cattle breeding business (in case you didn't know, cows are a huge contributor to global warming). I also wonder if he does anything to offset the carbon emissions created by his private jet when he is flying around the globe talking about reducing carbon emissions. If you can get over the hypocrisy of the movie, then it is really interesting and informative.

Al Gore does not Mention Methane....
Al Gore misses the fact that the poop from 40 billion animals we raise for food throughout the world contributes more to global warming then all the automobiles combined. Of course Gore would never mention this because his family owns a cattle ranch.
It is something to think about.

Must See DVD
Anyone who has heard of global warming but was afraid to ask would be well served to watch this informative yet entertaining lecture presented by former Presidential candidate Al Gore on the dangers of not acting to end the self destructive policies and practices of both the governments of the world as well as the private sector who are to often focused on the economics of fossil fuel use that serve to endanger not only our generation but those destined to be in the position of not being able to undue the damage inflicted by their progenitors (period)
