nursery heaven

From my home in the east bay, this isn't the easiest place to get to because traffic on I80 is never fun. But, I promise it's worth it to visit Annie's. When you walk into the nursery, you're greeted by beds of flowers abloom, a nursery dog, piles of bags of compost for sale, cute signs, and beyond rows and rows of seedlings ready for the buying. They grow many plants that are local to the area, and some great rarities. I love finding heirloom varities because planting heirlooms is contributing to keeping the plants that grow on this planet diverse! Another fabulous note is Annie's descriptions of all of her plants are really in depth, so you pretty much understand what you're buying, which makes sifting through the many many seedlings much more doable. All in all, so much fun, and a great place to support as they have a native plant and heirloom focus.
