Organic, local cocktails and appetizers during happy hour with the same for dinner.
Address map 720 Howard StI LOVED B Bar's location - in Yerba Buena Gardens, next to Samovar Tea Lounge - it overlooked the whole city, and I went on a beautiful, sunny Friday afternoon. The happy hour drinks were $5.00 each, which I consider a steal anywhere outside of the mission. I had a ginger/gin cocktail, which was perfect in the heat. Sure, it was a little a yuppy, but what place downtown during happy hour isn't?
The one that TOTALLY lacked about this place was the totally inept service. Adam W. adopted my lemon wedge story as his own, which is unfortunate because he didnt mention that before the place got busy the bartender was a pretty nice guy. But he (and the other bartender, and bar back, and GM) all cracked under the pressure of the 6 o'clock cocktail rush, resulting in really terrible service.
I am hoping this is just growing pains, and they'll get their act together asap. But I have no idea about the Greeness of B Bar, and I didn't notice anything that suggested it was trying to be Green.

I went here last Friday an was very disappointed. It's great that the drinks were organic (although i didn't see any certifications anywhere), but none of the three beers they offered where. Additionally, I have never had to wait so long in such an uncrowded atmosphere to get my drink. I literally waited 20 minutes while the bartender tried three times to make a good lemon twist to put on someone else's drink. There is no reason two bartenders could not deal with the moderate crowd at this place. And they had three!
Final word - don't go. It's overcrowded, it's seriously (seriously) yuppie, and you will spend half an hour waiting for your drink.
Not a venue for large parties… and very poor management and customer relations headed by Mr. Kevin Best --- definitely does not live up to the expectations of his name…. And a very clueless GM Don Riley. I really feel sorry for the very attentive wait staff and talented bartenders. I really was reluctant to pay the 20% gratuity that was automatically charged but did not want to punish the staff for the inadequacies of management.
After an 8-week advance reservation for indoor seating for 15, the day of was told party moved outdoors since another party of 20 had contracted for indoor seating and therefore given priority.
We shivered through main courses while watching the empty seating of 20. Then as we hovered over coffees, GM Don Riley had the gall to comment ... "It's actually a bit too warm inside, just now." As we shook back circulation into our extremities for the rush to warmer climes... the party of 20 had yet to arrive... And yet, not a word of apology or compensat

The location is unfortunate for such a great place. Its not that easy to find and is out of the way for many after-work happy hour seekers. Luckily, we are an industrious bunch in search of organic drinks and snacks, so we climbed the stairs in YB Gardens to this little oasis.
B has $5 organic cocktails from 4-7pm, what a deal! They serve Belgian ales and delicious, albeit tiny, $5 snacks. We went on a Friday after work and it was medium-busy, but it could be much busier, I am out to spread the word- go to B for affordable organic drinks!
The atmosphere is lovely as well and the bartenders were great- my friend, who will remain nameless, knocked his beer over and they handed him another one, free of charge. Thats the kind of good people they are over at B, so check them out.

Ouch on the lemon wedge story - If I had known you were actually going to review this place I would have left it to you. Maybe I can just stick to my own story of the bartender muddling the mango 8 times to make sure he... more »
