Bio-Plastic Cups

by Jenn A.

Cups and plates made from biodegradable plastic

I was very impressed by the efforts to "green" a very large conference (Web 2.0 Expo) last week at Moscone Convention Center. They did not provide any bottled water in cups -- instead, they had water dispensers (aka "bubblers") with filtered water and biodegradable plastic cups. All the food packaging was also biodegradable -- trays, napkins, forks, spoons & the little bag that holds the fork/napkin/spoon. All the trash cans were lined with biodegradable trash bags, too!

This just goes to show that it can be done on a large scale -- keep up the good fight against plastics!

Outstanding biodegradables

These products need to be adopted by the food industry, specifically fast food chains to lessen their load on the environment. I can just hear their objections, not cost effective, or consumers don't want it. The dying gasp of our civilization might be "It wasn't cost effective..."
