What a sad story, I'd never even heard of this brand, and now they are out of business! You can read the full account on their website http://www.biotaspringwater.com/newsroom. I hope someone, maybe some other green business with enough money can help bail them out or buyback their business from auction. They deserve a fair chance and UPS and it's affiliates need to be held accountable for their actions.

The bottle is very environmentaly friendly - made from corn and it's biodegradable. However, the water tastes like really awful tap water.

I really enjoy Biota Water based upon the ability for you to compost the bottle. But the downfall of it all is help within the quality of the flavor that varies due to the change in temperature. Also I feel that there should be a disclaimer highlighted on the bottle to remove the plastic caps. But its a good step in the right direction

I love that Biota has introduced the disruptive technology of distributing their water in compostable bottles, however I find that the water takes on the taste of the corn starch that was used to make the bottle. I doubt that the off gassing is toxic, however it does affect the taste of the water. I prefer to drink my water out of glass bottles instead.

I was at a convention in San Francisco and I came across some water called Biota!
I learned from one of the waste disposable staff how this type of bottle is made of corn and it will compost very well. It is the first time I have heard of plastic made of corn. The water had no after taste and this is the way I like it! I would like to find out more about where it comes from!

Tastes great, perfect packaging (except for little plastic ring that is difficult to remove when recycling). My only complaint . . . a bit pricey.

I first introduced to this concept at Vegoose in Las Vegas last year while attending the concerts out there. I must add that I was rather pessimistic about the concepts but after careful review was very pleased with the research the company had put into the product packaging. This should become a national necessity. Oh yes, the water is quiet good as well, rather tasty. especially when you leave the confines of an air conditioned nightmare that we know so well in that city of many losers and fewer winners, the city called Las Vegas.

The water did not taste any different than any water. But I think it was great that the bottle is both recyclable and biodegradable. That alone would make me want to buy the water. That should be the key to promoting the product is that their would be 0-waste coming from it. I dont though think that that should make the product more expensive.
So I am all for biota- and i hope that it is sold in the same places as arrowhead or aquafina- so that people have the option of buying biota!

I was really excited about biota because they are a socially responsible company and make water that is in compostible bottles. But I just tried one at teh Green Festival and it tastes kinda funny. Not completely fresh tasting and I'm not sure why. Plastic is bad it off gases Does anyone know what this bottle is made from?

Today for breakfast I skipped the Corn Flakes and had a Biota water that was in a corn bottle! Looking similar to the plastic look alikes this one was super easy to dispose of-- strait to the compost. This is great! I have learned that it is biodegradable, Compostable and recyclable! I was introduced to the product at the Green Festival at the SF location. I volunteered and was given a free trial. My duty as a volunteer was to work the Green Team which is to help with the sorting of the waste and I saw first hand the waste that accumulates and the caring and non-caring citizens. This product is great for those who are aware and want to spread the word. I think it is beneficial to the environment, and it is approved by the Biodegradable products institute!

I found that the water was very refreshing and tasted clean. A friend of mine said he thought the water had a "soapy" quality- meaning that it felt kind of smooth in the mouth. I knew what he meant, but I didn't feel like it took away from the taste. I like that the bottle is biodegradable. I've know about that corn "plastic" for a while and I'm glad to see it gain more use.

I really wanted to love this item because I believe in the packaging (biodegradable water bottle) but the water tastes like Mississippi river water. 6 of us tried it and 5 of us hated it. It has a bad "before taste" and taste like tap water.
Put a good, pure, fresh tasting spring water in this bottle and you have a winner

The water is good and the packaging great! The biodegradable bottles are reusable for months. Just be aware that they will begin to decompose if exposed to extreme heat for hours. Like if you keep the bottle in your car in Arizona during the summer.

This is a great product. It's a general bottle of mountain spring water, but it comes in a neat study compostable bottle made of corn oil. The water tastes fine, but the bottle is what makes the deal. It's strong enough to reuse, and when it wears out, it goes right into the compost.

All other bottled water products on the market are packaged in plastic containers, who originate from petroleum products, which are unsustainable.
Biota is delivered in a material called PLA which has a cornstarch origin. It is compostible. Until other bottled water comes in the same container, I will continue to purchase BIOTA.

The water is high quality, has a Ph of 7.5 and comes in a biodegratable bottle. The next step is for them to make the cap bio and then the product will be perfect.

I really like the concept of this biodegradable and recycleable bottle. However it needs a high temperature industrial furnace to decompose. The water doesn't taste the greatest either. But I do think it is a great step to a more environmentally friendly living.

Appearances can be decieving. I was definitly skeptical at first- How could a durable, seemingly plastic-looking container be biodegradable? Strange but true, someone developed the technology to turn corn into a strong, transportable bottle...and here we have Biota. The water is clear, crisp and fresh, derived from Colorado springs. I feel a lot less guilty about drinking out of something I will eventually toss- because when it finds a landfill, it will not be contributing to the millions of tons of waste that will be around for hundreds of thousands of years! Instead it will break down back into the earth, from which it came.
We can still have some of our comforts while being extra conscious consumers- all it takes is a bit of effort to find these earth friendly transportable bottles...and you've already begun to make healthier choices- for you and the world.
