If you rinse it after using the stick it shouldn't smell
i too had the problem of my crystal stick smelling horrible, like the worst b.o. you could ever imagine. then i figured out the same thing - that if i used it when i already smelled, it would just get the bacteria on there and end up ruining the whole stick. ...so i bought a new one and only used it immediately after i got out of the shower. i never ever used it if i wasn't completely clean already. but guess what? it STILL smelled like rotten b.o. after about a week. so i either have some crazy bacteria under my arms that even soap can't destroy (though i doubt that's what's going on because when i got out of the shower my pits are fresh as a daisy), or it maybe only takes the tiniest bit of something to make the bacteria on the stick multiply. anyway, now after i use my stick i just rinse the whole thing really, really well, and i even dry it off with a paper towel. that seems to stop any new smells from forming. by the way, aside from the whole stick smelling bad thing, it works amazingly. as long as the stick doesn't smell to begin with, when i use it i'm b.o. free the whole day.

Crystal Deodorant really works
I work in a second grade classroom all day. I sweat. I've tried other all natural deodorants (Toms, JASON, etc.) and they did alright but didn't last the whole day. I kept needing to re-apply half-way through the day. I didn't expect this stuff to work but it does. I used the roll-on kind and it kept me smelling good all day. It's unscented so it doesn't smell like anything so it's good for men and women. Highly recommended !

If it stinks, you used it wrong
I love my Crystal natural deodorant! However, the first one I purchased I mistakingly used after a long day and with no time for a shower so I was kinda stinky already. This of course made the stick smell bad from then on. I should have at least washed the pits with soap and water first or taken a shower!! duh. With the 2nd stick I have been much more careful about when I use it and no worries, no stinky stick! And by the way it does work amazingly well and all day! That is unless I workout really hard or play outside all day in the heat. Regardless after something like that you really should take a shower anyway!
A word to the wise from one who learned the hard way, if you smell bad enough to need to re-apply deodorant you probably need to bathe first anyway. If for nothing else for the rest of us who will have to walk past you in a crowd. Pew!

Working for me... mostly
I bought this deodorant because I was looking for an alternative to the chemicals in the traditional deodorants. I have found that when applied carefully right after showering it is good all day on most days. The exceptions are the hot, active outdoors days. I find it much more effective than other deodorants marketed as natural.

Can't understand the negative reviews
I've been using this for over 2 months now, and it is the best deodorant I've ever used. I've had no problems with smell, neither the rock itself nor I smell AT ALL. (Unlike Tom's where I smell after 5 or 6 hours, and smell BAD.) I use it on my underarms and feet (does everyone else's feet smell as bad after a few hours in crocs?!) and I can't believe how completely odorless I and my feet are.
The instructions do say to apply after washing, so perhaps they know that if you already stink, it will stay on the rock? I only put it on immediately after showering.
My husband doesn't like the "feel" of it (it "snags" the skin if it's not wet enough), but I don't think he noticed poor odor protection.
I actually feel bad for the people for whom this product doesn't work, as it's a safe, natural alternative. I don't know whether it's just a body chemistry thing, but I'm just thankful it works PERFECTLY for me. This is all I will ever use now.

Between a rock and a hard place
How does this company stay in business? The only time this crystal stick doesn't stink is when I opened the package. Once you scrape your armpits with this seemingly magical piece of stone, the love affair is over. I last used mine about a year ago, and everytime I open my medicine cabinet I can smell the lingering odor, like a hunk of old cheese in an abandoned refridgerator. Maybe we should put out a call to gather up everyone's abandoned crystal deodorant sticks, and crush them up for road fill for the highway department?

A curse of a deodorant
I've had trouble finding a good natural deoderant and this didn't help at all. It seemed to work for the first couple of days, but then the crystal itself BEGAN SMELLING LIKE B.O. Gross. Also, it was a hassle to have to get it wet each time I wanted to use it. Now I'm stuck with a gigantic crystal rock deodorant that would take years to use up. I'm hoping to find someone to pawn it off on soon.

Crystal Deoderant
I did not find this product controlled smell very well. In fact, if you use it when you do smell, everytime you use it after, it seems to just smear more smell-manufacturing bacteria on you. It is very easy to use however.

Crystal stick stinks
Okay, so it's all natural and a very intriguing product: literally a stick of crystal that you are supposed to wet and rub on your underarms. However, it just doesn't work very well. I'm using Tom's of Maine's products instead right now and find them to be much better.
