The Globe Less Traveled

I was attracted to "Tales of a Female Nomad", while scanning the travel section at J Michaels Books, in Eugene. Rita's inspirational travel memoir is a great read for any woman in transition, wanting to bust out of her ego, ethno, or eco-centric confines to discover what it's like "living at large in the world". I quickly discovered this book wasn't going to be one that I would read a little here, and a little there, over weeks. I didn't put it down until I read it all the way through to her last paragraph: "It's exciting to think that all over the world, new and old friends will be reading my book and "talking" to me via email".

It took me a couple years, but I finally emailed Rita, and after exchanging a couple emails, I learn that tops on her to-do-list right now is readying her collaborative story/cookbook for publication. Her profits will fund vocational training for slum kids in India.
