Lies, Lies and More Lies

The Hundred-Year Lie is a reality-check, an unveiling of what the author refers to as the "dark rabbit hole" we have been sliding down since the turn of the 20th century, from womb to grave, by ingesting and breathing in the plethora of chemicals and synthetic ingredients manufactured by the "Wizards of Oz". Chapter three is devoted to a chronological history of the hundred-year lie. Chapter five is about the "Sorcerer's Apprentices" - the drug and medical industries. After Fitzgerald "Brings It All Home" in the final chapter, we get to the Afterword and Appendix, which gives us a strategy for prevention and wellness: "The Detox Journey".

One of my favorite chapters in the book, "When Western Medicine Fails" shares testimonials of people who found alternative solutions for medical problems, like Quinn Daly of San Fransisco, who found relief from a severely debilitating vertigo that lasted for weeks on end. With the help of a Rolfer, the root of her problem was discovered and found treatable. It was not an inner ear imbalance, as suspected, but a highly inflamed neck that had spread to other areas in her upper back, as well as a history of poor nutrition. With the implementation of the Rolfing treatments and a nutrition regimen, Quinn recovered speedily.

Finally, here are a couple of "Wake-up America" factoids from the back of the book jacket
: " the average American now carries a "body burden" of 700 or more synthetic chemicals, including Teflon residues, plastics and dozens of pesticides. Labs tests have found that four common food additives - aspartame, MSG, and two coloring chemicals - interact synergistically to produce nerve damage. These additives are commonly found in junk food marketed to children".
