burnt, acidic American coffee

For all of Allegro's family farm and sustainability operations, which is noble and great, I think their Breakfast Blend in particular is too acidic and burnt. You do get a nice caffeine rush from it. I worked at Whole Foods for a while back in my salad days and so I drank it fairly often when I was there. It's definitely a signature flavor that I haven't experienced with any other coffee. I think Whole Foods is good at a lot of things but coffee may not be one of them. I know that Allegro stands alone, in many ways, a Colorado-based coffee company that got its start in the late-70's, but I've come to think of it as synonymous with Whole Foods. Sorry Whole Foods, I'll buy my coffee elsewhere. I don't want you to think of this as my way of saying that all of Allegro's coffees are like this -- that's not true. Just steer clear of the Breakfast Blend.
