the best local San Francisco caramel
You can get this sauce at Bi-Rite, the Bi-Rite Creamery, probably Rainbow as well, as well as the Ferry Plaza building. It is exquisite caramel. Super-buttery, a little smoky, top-notch. I guess the creator Michael Recchiuti was super into chocolate and that's where it started, back in the 1990's. Anyway, he's into using local, organic ingredients, and his caramel is the bomb.
