Chocolate to die (or at least beg) for!
San Francisco-based gourmet chocolatier Cacao Anasa blends organic/fair trade chocolate with herbs, nuts, spices and flowers to create the most complex and delicious confections you'll ever taste. Last fall saw the introduction of a line of chocolate bars called "Afrodisiacs." All are made with 72% organic fair-trade cacao and highlight taste combinations that complement each other and interact playfully on your palate. The four varieties flavors are:
- Dark Passion: essence of passion fruit, bits of organic dried mango and black sesame seeds.
- Fever: essence of lemon, candied ginger and cayenne pepper
- Love Bite: essence of lime, bits of organic dried kiwi, roasted pistachios and Hawaiian red sea salt.
- Seduction: essence of French roses and bits of organic dried persimmons.
In the interest of full disclosure, I have known the founder of Cacao Anasa for nearly 6 years. When he first started learning about chocolate making, I was his willing guinea pig and quality assurance tester. The fact remains, however, that Anthony produces the finest chocolates I have ever had.
My favorite chocolates are the rose chocolate truffles - they make a great wedding gift, too!
