Reviews of California Style Complete Protein Bread

Healthy & tasty bread

Alvarado makes some fantastic breads -- organic ingredients and whole grain, what's not to like? The California style complete protein bread is a sprouted bread -- this means it has more protein than regular bread and it is more digestible.

People who have allergies to grains, they can tolerate sprouted grain breads and cultured wheat products. This bread can be stored in the freezer -- pull out a slice or two and defrost it in your toaster or on the stove while you are heating water for your tea (I lean it against the teakettle to defrost it).

Check out the FAQ on the Alvarado site -- they even explain the name and the cat on the logo! http://www.alvaradostreetbakery.com/faq_asb.html

sprouted on Alvarado St.

They say that you can get a complete protein from certain sprouted grains and legumes, and this bread definitely works in your favor from a "complete protein" perspective. It also tastes great. I'm curious about the degree to which it is available outside of California? I'm guessing widely. This bread is great to have in your fridge or on your shelf, particularly when you're on the run or you didn't have time to stop at your local bakery (if you have one). It's hearty and you can almost taste the sprouted organic whole wheat berries. One slice contains 5g of protein!
