Carrot Mob recently mobbed a Mission carryout store -- they planned ahead, of course, and the owner said that they would put 22% of the day's profits toward eco-friendly improvements. The customers were prepared to spend money -- they bought a lot of alcohol but also cleaned out the organic peanut butter and other items to put into two SF Food Bank bins they had positioned in front of the store.
The store made over $9K that day -- and hopefully that will go a long way to improvements!

The Carrotmob campaign is drawing attention. They have created an economic model that uses capitalism for good and not evil. Its an experiment to show what happens when consumers choose to use their collective buying power to have a positive impact on companies to become more socially and environmentally responsible. What's the carrot? A network of consumers gathering to make it rain money on their business to raise the funds to green their business.
