Address map 1517 Shattuck Ave.got to love Chez Panisse, decades ahead of the curve for promoting local, organic food. Yes, it's expensive and elitist. But Alice Waters and Michael Pollan have also been the vanguard. make the pilgrimage!

I went with my parents to this place recently -- it took us a long time to get on the reservation waitlist. But after we finally got in the food was amazing! The red wine served was also rich. Crab and fish stew rounded out our meal and we finished with a fearsome myer lemon sherbet.

Huge fans of the sustainable food revolution spearheaded by executive chef and food advocate extraordinaire Alice Waters, my boyfriend and I went here for our first anniversary dinner. We were blown away by the gorgeous presentations and standalone quality and taste of each dish. They started us with a tuna carpaccio with beets and cornichons in a mustard sauce, which was amazing. Next dish in the lineup was a sweet corn soup with chanterelles - wow! Corn never tasted so good. Our main course was lamb with white beans and candied fennel, which was a complete delight to the tastebuds. And we ended with homemade strawberry ice cream with all sorts of yummy accoutrements. All in all, the intimate, romantic atmosphere and superb meal left us beaming from the inside out. A perfect destination for a special occasion or anytime you feel like treating yourself and loved ones to the wonders of sustainable, local food!
