That's right, this AT-PZEV has better emissions than any other gasoline car sold in the US.
It's also fun to drive, can achieve great mileage and it looks great, too.
I have a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid (HCH) without navigation. It is the second generation of the HCH, which began in model year 2003. I have averaged 58 MPG over four tanks of gas since I got the car. I can go between 600 and 660 miles on an 11 gallon fill-up. I drive for mileage, but don't consider myself a 'hypermiler.' I use a light foot on the gas and maximize the time and distance while I'm driving that it isn't burning any fuel.
There are only 5 differences visible on the outside of the car from the regular Civic. They are the hybrid decal, the trunk lip spoiler, the special alloy wheels, the AM radio antenna on the roof and the blinkers on the side mirrors.
It is a very safe car with advanced air bags and ABS standard.
I highly recommend the HCH if you drive more than 15,000 miles per year.

This 1st edition Civic Hybrid has a modest electric motor wedged between the 1.3L gas engine and the CVT transmission. Power seems less than a regular gas Civic but is adequate. The electric motor kicks in when accelerating or hill climbing, otherwise it's mainly a gas driven car. The electric motor becomes a generator to the batteries when low or braking, and also starts the gas engine silently. The brakes convert kinetic energy into electric energy when stopping or hill decending, and pads last a little longer due to this generation. The batteries only can help with acceleration for about 3 minutes total before needing a charge from the motor/generator requiring a little extra gas to maintain speed. The engine automatically shuts off when stopped, and restarts when the brake is let go, so it is idle-free. I can drive up to 1000km between gas tank fulls on the hwy. The batteries are guaranteed for 10 years, and hidden behind the back seat.
Gas milage for me in Canada is about 4.5Litres/100km or 62 Canadian MPG hwy or 52 US MPG. I get about 6.0L/100km in town driving, or 42 Cdn.MPG or 35 MPG in US. I drive conservatively, so drivers who are "racers" will get much worse MPG. Gas engine needs an oil change only every 10,000km with the rarer grade 0W20 oil, so dealer does it.
With the wind, I've achieved up to 3.9L/100 km or 70 MPG. This is an ULTRA-LOW Emissions Vehicle and pollutes 1/10th of a 80's Civic, which pollutes 1/10th of a 70's large car, so 100 Hybrids will pollute as much as one 70's large car!
Newer Civic Hybrids have a stronger HP electric motor and higher MPG and longer lasting batteries.
This is a beautiful reliable car, my dream car, but I hope to get a full electric car when they are available from ZENN .

we just bought this to save on gas..and boy do we save averaging a 44mpg rate
dont forget the tax credit you get for buying a hybrid too!!
I purchased a Honda Civic Hybrid shortly before the holiday season, and was pleased with the gas millage, and lack of trouble on the trip from northern Wisconsin to Southern Indiana. I was able to do the entire round trip on less then two tanks of gas. It would usually take that each way.

The Honda Civic Hyrid is the 'other' hybrid. The same sleek body as the non hybrid, beautiful design and handling, but with hybrid synergy. We are getting 42 mpg in the city and up to 54 on the highway. Trunk a bit smaller to house the battery and no sun roof available to save on weight but with the tax credit, we felt it was worth paying a bit more to make a statement that this is what people want. We are looking forward to plug-in hybrids powered by solar and wind instead of plugging them into to your friendly coal fired power plant's outlet.

The 2005 Honda hybrid civic car is a well designed, efficient , quiet and very smooth, easy car to drive that has the auto stop feature which shuts down the car at redlight or when it is stopped to prevent the car from iddling and wasting gasoline. However, the 2005 hybrid model only performs 40 miles per gallon after 15 months drive on the road and highways. It performs better in warm weather than bitter cold weather in California.

Our newest family member is a Honda Civic Hybrid...My husband loves it (though I think the Prius new look is better)
GREAT GAS MILEAGE!!! Worth it! The gas mileage on this baby really impresses me!!! Unfortunately, it's my husbands car and I am left with a Focus!!! Hybrid is the way to go!!!

I am generally happy with my new insight. It's more comfy than my CRX, does get more gas mileage, has a nice climate control system, roomier.... BUT you really have to drive ridiculously slow in order to get the advertised 60MPG,inmy experience. anyhow it looks sharp and watching the MPG meter can be addictive...

I get close to 50mpg on my 2003 Honda Civic so feel better about my commute to work. I am lucky to live in a beautiful place in the redwoods, but there is a downside and that is having to drive quite a ways to work each day. The civic hybrid not only makes it a comfortable drive, but with the great mileage and it's lower contribution to pollution, I feel like I can get the best of both worlds.

A great car that I am proud to drive. Although it has a slight learning curve to driving it differently to get the best mileage, it performs great.

Let's face it : hybrid technology is great, but with automakers selling every hybrid they make, they have the biggest benefit to the planet and the nation when in the hands of suburban and exurban commuters. If you are like me and live in the city and commute by public transportation, getting a hybrid is not a priority. Instead, a Honda Civic frickin' rocks. Great mileage for weekend trips. Small for urban streets and parking. Functional and stylish.

I've had my Honda Civic Hybrid for roughly 3 years now, and not only has it been a great car, but it has also been quite low maintenance and gets great gas mileage.
When I first got the car, we got roughly 30 - 35 mpg, but after about a year, the mpg actually increased to around 40 mpg! I love it when other people complain about the high price of gasoline and getting the chance to say: I haven't filled up in a couple of weeks, is that really what the price is these days...

The Civic Hybrid is a great value. I chose the 5 speed stick shift since I live in DC and a manual does not get stolen. 40 MPG and a great deal at 18,500.00. DC exempts Hybrids from the sales tax so you save 6%. Also, registration is 50% less than a normal car. You need to buy one if you live in DC. Go Fenny!!!
