fresh veggies and community food security
Clagett Farm is located in Upper Marlboro MD and their CSA, from the ground up, is a project of the Ceasapeak Bay Foundation and the Capital Area Food Bank. They sell shares so that during the growing season, customers receive a weekly bag of fresh veggies grown without chemicals or pesticides. One of the greatest things about this project is that about 50% of the food grown is either donated to DC area service agencies (like the food bank, shelters, etc) and sold affordably through half price shares and a farmers market in Anacostia, where there is little access to fresh, locally grown veggies.
