No lines, conscious, local, organic products in the East Village
While commodities may be a little bit pricier than say, Trader Joes, their produce is leaps and bounds above TJ, especially when it comes to Food Miles. Their veggies are fresh, local, AND organic - their fruit leaves a little bit to be desired. They have a very helpful staff, especially in the wholistic health and healing section at the back. Smaller equals homier in this store, not frustrating lines. The frozen foods section and beverages give you much to explore. You can't miss the fair-trade chocolate at the counter - must-try the Grenada Chocolate Company - YUM!
