Donald R. Sanford, Managing Director at Buck Consultants offers three quick tips for business owners who are looking to green their HR practices.

1. Spread the word with green communications: Green newsletters can quickly and cost effectively educate and encourage environmentally friendly behaviors in the workplace and at home.

2. Increase profitability through green metrics and accountability targets: Track energy use and water use and set individual and business unit goals for lowering energy and transportation costs. Reward employees when these green goals are met through recognition or rewards.

3. Identify "Green Champions" who can support green causes in the office: These individuals can encourage green practices and behaviors among co-workers, such as ride/share programs, cutting back on printing and switching to reusable drinking cups.
