- Fly nonstop if you can’t take the train
Train travel is far better for the environment and (and your stress level). But, if train travel isn’t an option - fly nonstop. Not only do you save time and hassle, but flying nonstop can save up to nearly 50% in carbon emissions because most fuel is burned during takeoff and landing.
- Opt for a hybrid taxi or rental car
Most major city airports now have eco-cabs and hybrid rental cars available. Hybrid taxi fares cost the same as a regular cab ride and the price for a hybrid rental car typically falls within a company’s reimbursable range.
- Adjust your hotel room practices
If a green hotel is available, book a room at the green hotel. And no matter where you’re staying, be conscious of the resources you’re consuming. For example, unplug items you’re not using – lamps, microwaves, hairdryers. Opt out of room cleaning. And don’t use or take the amenities.
