A sucker for pineapple!

I admit it - I really adore pineapple. The flavor is so delicious -- I just turn into a hummingbird in response to anything pineapple-y. Pineapple wine and vegan pineapple upside down cake in Kauai. Pineapple soda with vanilla ice cream floats.
Dried and freeze dried pineapple for snacking. Pineapple juice and rum with a twist of lime. Yum.

Sadly, I can't eat fresh pineapple because the bromelain tenderizes my mouth.

Fizzy Lizzy gives me that tasty pineapple-y-ness without the pain I get from fresh pineapple -- it's refreshing, sweet, fizzy and hands down one of my favorite pineapple drinks. Best of all - it's not made with artificial anything (see Aaron's review). These sodas are lower in calories than Izze, too!

What are *you* drinking?

Fizzy Lizzy Responds

Hi Haru,

We were disappointed that you didn't like our Costa Rican Pineapple but love the fact that you cared enough to write a review.

For the record, our Costa Rican Pineapple has absolutely nothing artificial in it. Moreover, it has no "filler" juice, gums or colors. It's just pure pineapple juice from Costa Rica and sparkling water. You can't get a purer more natural sparkling juice. This very flavor was winner of a 2007 sofi(TM) Silver, Outstanding Cold Beverage by the NASFT at the 2007 Summer Fancy Food Show and was featured in House and Garden, which called it its "favorite" drink in the category.

As to Izze, I'm afraid that you have it backward. Fizzy Lizzy came out in 2000, two years before Izze. And, as to quality and taste, at the risk of immodesty, we think we've got Izze beat. We use more of the "named" juice. Unlike Izze, our juice has pulp and we use no gums or colors.

All the best and keep caring!

Fizzy Lizzy kinda fizzled out for me...

UPDATE 8/22/07: I decided to try another flavor and wrote another review. Check it out here:

http://www.sustainlane.com/listing/SDXCDXRX3YPSJ4ICRO8WUTYIWQ9H?sr=6510

I was going to buy my usual Izze, when I saw the Fizzy Lizzy Costa Rican Pineapple option and decided to give it a try. It says all natural, no sugar added, listing 63% fruit juice and 37% fizzy water as ingredients. Unfortunately, it didn't taste so natural to me. The consistency wasn't smooth and the after taste with the fizziness, seemed strange. I feel like they are trying to copy Izze (not sure which came first) but aren't quite there yet. It could just be my preference, but I think I'll stick with Izze for my natural soda.
