A "Do you know GREEN?" game posted to various entertainment sites...

Green wash? Mixed in with green 'facts' are some not-so-green facts. Or more like, stretches of truth from the Legal Sharks.

Such as, "all cotton is natural and renewable and grows from a plant."

Okay, this is true. But organic cotton doesn't contribute millions of gallons of pesticides and fertilizer runoff to our rivers, lakes and oceans' Dead Zones right? Neither does hemp or bamboo. Hm.

Not to be forgotten, here's a fact from me: it's greener to buy USED clothes than constantly buying new cotton crap at [insert corporate chain or indie boutique selling stuff from China].

Another dubie: "organic food production (i thought this was a cotton game?) requires more land and water to grow than conventional crops. studies show...no difference in nutrition between organic and convention foods..."

This may be technically true, but last time i checked, petroleum wax-coated apples fertilized and sprayed with natural gas-fertilizer weren't great for my pancreas.

Cotton Incorporated tries to have it both ways: conventional food (petro-grown) is A-OK, but synthetic fibers are made using petro, a 'non-renewable resource.' Please!

Non-fact #3: "only 0.9 oz of pesticide is used per pound of cotton" extracted. does that mean a pound of cotton contains 6.25% insect poison? go a little lower and it may qualify as 'organic'! corporate organic standards allow up to 5% non-organic ingredients!

Yes, I am expert! Borat taught me everything. So there.

ps: Hey Grist, get on it!
