Delicious, convenient but not green

I do like Pacific Foods asceptic package soups -- but I worry about the non-recyclable packaging, so rarely buy them except for convenience or when I'm in a pinch for time.

They have many vegan-friendly varieties -- and the soups are uniformly high quality and delicious. Like another reviewer said -- why can't we have convenience without amassing non-recyclable packaging.

What if everyone on the planet ate like this? Can we come up with some better packaging? The soup is good for me but the packaging is definitely a "Doesn't Work"

Packaging Matters

Although these soups are delicious and may gain many sustainability points, the packaging is very resource intensive and not even vaguely recyclable. When I make consumption choices, I often ask "if everyone in the world consumed this way, would it be good for the planet?" Obviously, we can't sustain this level of packaging. I'll admit that convenience matters for modern lifestyles, but can we get some convenience without hoards more garbage?

From Pantry to Purse

Not only is my pantry stocked with many of the quart-size Pacific Natural Foods Organic Soups like their French Onion and Cashew Ginger Carrot, but I have an assortment of the 8-ounce for a single serving. The small size is great for someone that eats lunch at work; you can toss it into your purse or backpack to heat later. Today, I drank the Creamy Butternut Squash. I heated it up in a glass measuring cup in the microwave (one of the rare times I use it), and poured into my over-sized coffee mug, to sip while I worked at my computer. The Organic Creamy Butternut Squash is especially great for me, because it is gluten free, wheat free, low fat, and I love the taste. All the soups I've tried are flavorful and fresh tasting with notes of spices or herbs. Some soups are also available with low sodium.

Slightly oversalty soup broth

Good organic soups that can be purchased at most natural foods grocery stores. Slightly on the saltier side, but still good. Their vegetable broth is a good starter for more involved soup creations.
