Dark chocolate with a hint of mint

I remember when mint M&Ms came out on the market in the 1980s -- I was really excited about the flavor. I have always liked peppermint and chocolate but didn't like York peppermint patties (too sweet). That's been my big issue with a lot of chocolate-peppermint candies -- they tend to be made with low quality chocolate and excessive HFCS.

The Endangered Species chocolates are consistently good -- I really don't know how they do it. This mint dark chocolate bar is just sweet enough to take the edge off the very dark chocolate and there isn't so much peppermint that it is cloying. It's the kind of chocolate that you can just break off a piece and let it melt in your mouth (maybe help it along with a sip of hot peppermint tea).

Highly recommended. Don't laugh and accuse me of saying that about *all* chocolate because there are some chocolates that I would tell you were bad (like Hershey's Special Dark chocolate which tastes like wax). Trust me. I'm a professional.

sustain a habitat with a chocolate smile

Call it green-washing if you like, I don't care. I love chocolate, and I don't mind helping out, even if it's just a little bit, when I enjoy my chocolate. It actually enhances my enjoyment.

And this is a great company, that only purchases their cacao from small family-owned sustainable farms. And part of the proceeds goes to protect the animals.

And the chocolate is really, really good. They also make good gifts.
