This place is NOT green!

I was shocked to find out the market discourages use of reusable shopping bags. You have to check them while you shop -- very inconvenient! I had mine on the rack underneath cart and when I questioned the feasability of having to drop off and pick up the bags a very large security person came up to me and told me if I didn't like it I could leave and shop someplace else. Since when do grocery stores need bouncers?

Mega fresh organics market

Here is a section by section break down of what to expect. Think of it as a goodness emporium. It's a World Market. If you're a foodie, this is your mecca. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: no credit cards, debit cards and checks okay. BRING A JACKET. It's never warm in there. Even "hot natured" people complain of the cold. Tuesdays are calm and quite but the selection is lower. There is a lot of restocking on Tuesdays. Saturdays and Sundays are a mad house. Many different languages are spoken by both the employees and the patrons, so say "excuse me" loud and clear to keep the traffic controlled.

Veggies galore and fruit from the best farms. Things are fresh and the signage tells you the origins. I like to know what state my produce is grown in so I can make better carbon choices.

Excellent wine and beer section has local brews and sustainable vintages. But no alcohol on Sundays- it's our law here in GA.

If you eat meat, there is natural and sustainable turkey, chicken, rabbit, pork, and buffalo. There is organic grass fed beef as well. They have a nice selection of special recipe sausages made from turkey, chicken, pork, and beef. The poultry ones are in sheep casing for those of us who don't eat pork. The meat area also has duck, Cornish hens, whole birds, and quail.

The fish market is insane. Every size shrimp, scallop, clam, crab, and other shelled creature. Plenty of wild caught fish and farm raised fish. There is a live tank as well.

Mega selection of cheeses gets crowded. There is a deli area for sliced meats and cheeses. Widest selection of bleus I've ever seen in one place. I've only seen non-homogenized milk. If you're looking for your standard 2%, better luck elsewhere.

Bakery is fresh and natural. They make whole wheat organic and traditional white breads. There is a coffee bar that sells special pastries and cakes and pies. There is also a lunch cafe area sold by weight.

Awesome recycling center where you can learn how to build a compost.
