I heard Josh Tickell give a presentation on his first trip across America back in 2002. It was great to see how he wove the personal experiences with his interviews and background on the issue. By making it largely personal, a travel journey of sorts (including the historical clips) he made the film very accessible. All in all I think it's one of the best environmental docs out there.
My one qualm was that he proposed a link between 9/11 and oil without really mapping it out...for the sake of the unconverted.

Josh Tickell's documentary about the problems of oil, and possible solutions is personal. This is not a documentary planned on storyboards in a corporate office. Having grown up in a pristine Australia, it was a complete shock to move to Louisiana and find undrinkable, polluted rivers. He spent many years of his life living alternative fuel options and actively working to produce positive solutions to the disaster brought to us through the oil industry. He is personable, sincere and more than anything else, he puts legs under what he believes. There are many documentaries that leave you in a modest to severe state of depression. Even while dipping you in the black ooze, he presents hopeful and realistic ways out of the tar-pit. He manages to consistently put his money where his mouth is....even as far as drinking the same product that he puts in the tank. Enjoy the movie and have a pizza.....but don't forget to wring out that Supreme Combination into your gas tank for the drive home.
