Just ok--Totally overrated customer service!

This place is mediocre at best. It seems that the owners are not really that up to date on or informed on sustainability. Nor are their customer service skills very commendable. I have asked specific questions, to which they give generic, nonspecific answers. I personally believe that for these business owners, sustainability is not a passion. They carry some great high end products, counter tops, flooring, etc., but they do not seem to know much about sustainability aside from the products they carry, and I don't think they even know as much about them as they should know. They have also given really uninformed answers about other green products (windows) and the "paint bar" concept is complete hype, go, see for yourself. I have given this place a shot several times, but have been disappointed every time. I would (and have) support their business if there are no others alternatives, otherwise I would look for other businesses more deserving of my dollars.

Green Home Maintenance in Berkeley

EcoHome Improvement is a very cool new shop in the east bay. Everything in their store is as non-toxic as you can get. They have an awesome "paint bar" where you can check out dozens of colors of zero VOC paints. The people that work here are very friendly, and you can tell they truly care about the environment you are trying to create in your home. They are extremely receptive to ideas that I bring to them for new products they can carry, and they are a great resource to get educated on what you can do in your new home project in terms of non-toxic, more durable, solutions for your home.

I like this store and the people who run it. They have sustainable products and they are very available to discuss with you your ideas and available to answer any questions. I had questions about paint. I bought a very gallons and I was happy with the product. They also have flooring (bamboo and cork).

green building with design

Ecohome is a wonderful place to be inspired and learn about green remodeling. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and they have a whole range of eco building products. designers will find great looking alternatives and ideas for kitchens, floors, tiles, paint colors etc, and everything they have is good for the planet and good for you. The prices are very reasonable as well, not more than your standard products. I highly recommend checking them out if you are looking to do any work in your home!

Knowledgeable, Helpful, Cool Stuff

I used EcoHome Improvement recently for an office remodel and found their staff very knowledgeable and professional. They were able to streamline the decision-making process and saved me time and research. They also have some really beautiful products in their store, which are really nicely designed.

Excellent cabinet material, flooring, and paints

The women who run this store are wonderful, helpful, knowledgeable, and energetic. They have great sustainable products, too! My favorite is the bamboo counter top, which looks fantastic and really functions well, too. I also like their counter tops made from recycled paper and resin. The paper/resin combination might sound weird, but seeing is believing; this stuff is like granite.

It's a tremendous new store that deals with health-conscious paints and certified sustainably harvested (FSC) woods. They've just started working with a guy to build custom cabinetry. I can't say enough about these folks. You can also check them out ate ecohomeimprovement.com if you're interested.

Green Home Design Services

We just finished remodeling our kitchen. Without the Eco Home Improvement center, It would have been a lot more difficult. They are a resource for everything green, and what they don't carry, they can refer you to someone who does.
