Elepharm was great! They will be missed.
It's sad that Elephant Pharmacy closed last week. They were my favorite drugstore... because they primarily didn't sell drugs, but sold good quality food, herbal "remedies" and green products and services instead.
RIP Elepharm.

Elephant Pharmacy is SO MUCH BETTER than Whole Foods and the ubiquitous WalGreens
The Elephant Pharmacy in North Berkeley is a zen experience -- my boyfriend hates to go in there with me because I won't leave. I can easily spend hours fingering their well-chosen selection of goods, from birthday cards to laptop bags, from water containers to non-poisonous nail polish.
There is a $1 a day video rental corner with a great selection of TV shows like 30 Rock and Arrested Development, a good drama section, your usual independent and edgy films, etc.
The last time I stopped in to Elephant Pharmacy, I walked out with a big Elephant Pharmacy canvas tote (super cute with orange screen printing), Seventh Generation toilet paper (because I was out), nail polish that won't slowly poison me, great lotion for my dry hands, bright red gloves for washing dishes under super-hot water (in a women's size!)....
Elephant Pharmacy is my pharmacy. And it's walking distance from my boyfriend's apartment in Berkeley. Good for the body, heart, and soul.

Excellent Selection but pricey!
I do adore Elephant Pharmacy - they have so many great items that I never knew I needed! They offer a wide range of vitamins and supplements, as well as some grocery items, video rental and all sorts of other goodies. It tends to be a bit pricey -- so do try to watch what you buy or you'll end up with a surprise at the cash register!
Elephant Pharmacy offers free classes to the community on lots of great health topics, yoga classes, flu shot clinics and even promotions to encourage green living at home (swap out your incandescant torchiere for a CFL torchiere, for example).
Great store with a lot of good things to offer.
