Holiday Market

The Holiday Market in Eugene, Oregon is a greatly anticipated event that draws shoppers from near and far (I saw a tour bus arrive from Spokane, WA). The Lane County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall is a huge space that annually accommodate hundreds of vendors and shoppers Saturdays and Sundays starting the weekend before Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve.

If you go online, you can print off directions and read the current week's list of artisan's names and booth locations, the international food court vendors, and the entertainment schedule (music CD's by local musicians are available at the Musician's co-op booth to the left of the stage).

Listening to the "high energy folk rock" of Red Pajamas, we spend a delightful couple of hours leisurely strolling the aisles of the annual Holiday Market, sampling, shopping and making some purchases from among the handmade crafts and products of 400 artisans of the Eugene Saturday Market. Hundreds of folks wander through the maze of booths, drawn by music and the aroma of spices toward the center stage area...and like us, likely to pass by each food court kiosk to select one of the many delectable ethnic dishes listed on the menu boards. The Afghani Cuisine food we ate was exceptional.

For shoppers' convenience, there are ATM's in the lobby, and a central processing area for purchases made by debit/credit cards. You simply take your ticket from the vendor to the sales booth in the center of the market, and once your purchase is complete, you return to the vendor with you receipt to collect your item(s).

The Holiday Market is open from 10AM-6PM, closing early, 4PM, on Christmas Eve.
