Awesome resource idea
As the other reviewers have said, this is a really great resource to do some research about the personal care products out there. I feel like the engine has gotten faster, but maybe it's my imagination. But I've noticed that for most of the products, there's a 65 - 80% "data gap," which means that that percentage of the ingredients in the product are not tested enough to have any data available as to whether or not they are toxic or harmful.
I wonder if the data gap influences the overall rating at all, like since 80% of the ingredients in product x have no data for review, then to be safe we dock a few points on the safety of the product. I don't think they do this, because many of the safest rated products have that much of a data gap.
This whole data gap thing just makes me realize again that there are tons of things we use that we have no idea what they're doing to us. Crazy.

Great tool to decide which cosmetics and toiletries to buy!
When I first found out about this site I looked up all of my beauty products and was horrified by some results, pleasantly surprised by others. The site still needs a little tweaking, not ALL products are in there, but it's a wonderful way to find out which ingredients in which products could be hurting you, without painstakingly googling each one and wading through the results.

Useful tool to de-tox your personal care routine!
The Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database is a brilliant tool for anyone trying to assess the difference between the effects of something like Padimate O or Oxybenzone in their personal care products. EWG takes the guesswork out by giving a comprehensive break-down of the ingredients, what tests have shown about them and how they compare to similar products with lower health hazard ratings. I use this site for many of my purchases and suggestions for healthier beauty products. Minus 1 star for the frustratingly slow search tool.
