Working with 100s of family farmers, Farm Fresh to you has been in the biz for like 30 years. They service the Bay Area and much surrounding it, even Sacramento and San Jose. They'll deliver a box of seasonal goodness to your doorstep for a great price, and you can stagger it appropriately for your situation. For example, my wife and I only needed a small box every other week. However, we are switching to another CSA box, just to mix things up a bit. It was a bit of a dry year last year, and some of the kale tasted a bit parched. The vegetables come from farmers out near Capay, north of San Francisco. CSA programs are a great thing and they save us a lot of time. My favorite thing about the CSA box is that it puts me in touch with the seasons. It's also really fun to be creative based on what we get in our box, and you can check the web ahead of time to see what you've got coming your way, which is great for planning meals!

excited about delivered healthy goodies
As I wondered green fest being tempted by strange green drinks, soy jerky, and almond butter I finally came across a woman who was actively communicating the benefits and accessibility of her product while handing out delicious orange slices. It is the first product I've seen that I really think I will be using on a regular basis in the near future.

local organic foods
I have just met with a PR person for this business and I am sold. I have read about such businesses that deliver a box of fruits and vegetables, all locally grown and organic, to your doorstep but have never been in a situation in which I could partake in such a service. I am very excited to get my first box of goodies, especially since there will be recipes in the box to teach me how to become a better cook. Going to the grocery store is such a mundane activity, besides the fact that I have never heard of let alone used half of the produce available. I feel this business is exactly what America needs to support healthy minds, hearts, and bodies!

Hey Ben - what CSA did you try after FFTY? I'm considering FFTY but it seems like the others all require pickup in a central neighborhood spot. more »
