The Dark Side of the All-American Meal.
BuyJust as a disclaimer, I haven't actually seen the film -- but I did read the book.
This film is a dramatic adaptation of Eric Schlosser's 2001 bestseller. I don't mean to sound like one of those "it changed my life" kind of people, but "Fast Food Nation" (the book) changed my life. Reading "Fast Food Nation" and simultaneously coming across an episode of "Frontline," which documented meatpacking, is what made me start my going-on-seven-year run as a vegetarian. I was glad to see a book in the same muckraking vein of Jacob Riis and Upton Sinclair for modern day issues. There is still an other half slaving away in "Jungle"-esque slaughterhouses and Schlosser does justice to the investigative journalists and writers who established this genre.
