These are fantastic bags! I carry them at http://www.myEARTH360.com along with their compost bucket. Highly recommended!

GREAT for storing herbs (and dog pick up)

We use the food waste bags for storing vegetables and especially herbs. We LOVE cilantro, but find it goes bad too quickly no matter what we tried, but these work great!

They're the only bags we use for dog waste. A lot of bags that say they're biodegradable use harmful chemicals and break down into pieces instead of biodegrading completely, but not these. (I also have a green pet supply business and these are the ONLY bags we carry).

And to answer someone's question, yes, they are GMO free.

Hi Amy - cilantro can be a problem - it only lasts 2-3 days in the fridge. I have found two ways to keep it fresh, depending on how much time I have. 1. Wash it, pick all the leaves off the stem and blot dry - put... more »

yes, I have, but I've found that washing, picking the leaves off AND putting it in the Biobags have made it last the absolute longest of all. Thanks for your comment! If it weren't my fav herb of all, I... more »

Oakland Rejects Biobags for Composting

Bio Bags are a great product -- however, if your intent is to save food scraps and put the bio bag into your composting bin that you put on the curb, make sure you check your local waste management facility's restrictions.

Where I live, in Oakland, California, the Stop Waste (www.stopwaste.org) site tells me that the Bio Bags are not acceptable for use in the composting bins. They are ok for regular trash, however -- so just put your food scraps into a bowl, ice cream carton or pizza box to tote them out to your bin.

I agree - they do not break down in my compost pile. They are perfect in everyway except for that. more »

Pricey and not functional

The bags are ultra thin and silky to touch, however, they're far too porous to place in a kitchen trash bin. My roommate was so sick of the smell we had to place the bin outside and when we emptied the bags they often ripped and cumbersome to take down a flight of stairs. I'm not sure if it is realistic to say it can contain that much waste, but willing to try other options.

They biodegrade...too soon

I bought these bags eager for a sustainable garbage bag option. But when I put them into my kitchen trash can, after about a week, they were a sweaty mess - the bag broke so I had to double up and now I can't use them without a paper bag liner inside them. We recycle so much, the only waste that really goes into our trash is compostable veggies etc. But the moisture I guess is too much, and since we don't accummulate enough to fill the can quickly, we don't empty the trash but once a week or less. I hate to waste more bags and would rather have a compost bin, but the one we had is full and we don't have a yard to put it in...as we live in an apartment. I feel like getting rid of my trash can and taking the waste out each day in a bucket or something, into the dumpster. Or flushing it down the toilet? Anyone have a better idea? Thanks!

This is a rather late comment, but BioBags makes a breathable small compost bin for this exact purpose. Because the bags let moisture escape, when you put them in a plastic garbage can the entire design of the bag is... more »

Birds Love It Too!

An avid gardener, I use BioBags for my kitchen scraps. Any little pieces in the generated compost have become a favorite nesting material for many beautiful birds in our yard. Our family birder is quite pleased to find little reused pieces of the Biobags in the constructed nests. This is yet another benefit of the BioBag. (Much safer than cigarette butts or other refuse nest material for the young birds).

Biobag

I can always look for the logo to assure the products I buy are truly biodegradable and compostable. Biobags breakdown occurs between 8-14 months. This natural occurrence takes place when the bag is exposed to the earth’s elements and micro-organisms in the soil. That’s why I choose Biobags!

Green bin your food

These 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable bags fit very nicely into your kitchen compost pail. Before these were introduced into stores, we were lining our green pail with newspaper and dumping our food scraps into grocery bags. What a pain that was! I cannot give this product a rave enough review. They will make composting or food scrap disposal a breeze. The other good news - they can also be used as a food storage bag. How cool is that! Feel Good Trash

While BioBags are on the expensive side ($5.50 for 25), they make me feel good generating trash of the biodegradable variety.

BioBags has a neat little plastic tub into which you can insert their 3 gallon bags, making it easy to separate organic matter that later will quickly turn to compost when the bag decomposes along with the contents.

I got the bags at the local hardware store 9in San Francisco).

If you have your own compost bin, you should be able to re-use these bags to keep your costs down.

Biobags should be mandatory

I love Bio Bags. I use them in my home for my kitchen garbage can and for my mini-composting bin. I also sometimes use them to store vegetables in the refrigerator.

I give Bio Bags as holiday gifts, especially to my friends with dogs. There are Bio Bags for dog poop!

I am working with local merchants in Oakland to ban plastic bags as they are toxic to the earth and all living things. Biobags are worth the extra cost -- to invest in the earth.

From Dog Poop To Groceries- BIOBAG

I stopped using plastic bags at the grocery store when I spent just a few dollars on the "Biobag Compost bags", which are not only useful for compost waste, but also fresh greens and veggies from the produce section! I keep veggies in them for days, and then use the bags to curb our dog, Moose! No more oil, no more plastic!

These bags fit perfectly in the green compost bins you keep in your kitchen for scraps. They protect the compost bin and can easily lift out to be placed in the larger compost bin picked up at the curb. Convenient, compostable and available at Walgreen's

More bags needed!

I've seen these bags in a couple of European countries and think that here in the USA we can do much better than that. This bags are the solution to a great deal of pollution in our environment. I've heard ikea is the first company in the Philadelphia area which is to start using the bio bags, I hope others will soon follow and contribute to stop harming our planet.
