Don't just recycle, FREEcycle!

Freecycle is a great way to make sure that the stuff you no longer need gets into the hands of someone who does. You know - you've got something around the house that is still "useful" and you don't want to just condemn it to charity thrift store doom. Well - check out freecycle - there's one in your neighborhood.

It's similar to craigslist but e-mail based rather than managing postings online. Stuff seems to move pretty quickly on freecycle...

freecycle makes sense!

i use freecycle all the time, and I think its a great concept. I need more time to keep track of the all the postings! I recently used it to get rid of office furniture from our office move and it was relatively painless. I only wished there was some way to combine yahoo groups with gmail capabilities, so I don't need to seach through all the postings to find out if an item has already been taken.

Get out of my life, stuff!

I used Freecycle to get rid of some bedroom furniture when I was moving from Nebraska to California. It just wouldn't be sustainable to transport a bunch of crappy furniture across the country, would it? I couldn't believe how quickly people responded to my ad - my stuff was claimed in 5 minutes and gone in a day. San Francisco has a much more convenient version of Freecycle, though: it's called "leave your stuff on the corner and it will be gone in 2 hours."

Freecycle Rocks!

I've gotten rid of stuff that cluttered up my garage and house, and I've picked up stuff I needed like a set of car ramps. All for Free. This is a wonderful way of keeping stuff out of landfills.

got stuff?

when i heard about this site, i thought it was too good to be true. what would ya know?... it's as dope as i hoped. people have so much great stuff on their, from moto helmets to furniture to office supplies. there's more of a community feel to it than craigslist, since a) you have to sign up, and b) its set up as a yahoo e-group. this is also the reason why i gave it 4 stars instead of 5. as much as i appreciate the value of keeping it as an e-group, it also makes it slightly more difficult to weed through. other than that, no complaints.

Freecycle

Great way to get rid of what you don't need and get what you do! No money exchanges hands. You prevent your discards from going into landfill and get free stuff that you need. The only requirement is that your first posting has to be an offer. After that you can post all the WANTED's you desire.

Free stuff...and keep it out of the landfill

Freecycle.com is a unique community of users who give away usable items they no longer need. Go to Freecycle.com, sign-up for the Freecycle group in your area and give and receive! Users post a description of the item they want to give away (bed linens, unopened food items, couches, computers, etc.), their location, and then others contact them if they want the item.

It's a great way to clean usable items that you no longer need out of your closet or garage and keep things out of the landfills as well.
