Gaia Girls Way of Water
Book 1 of this incredible kids series by Lee Welles, Gaia Girls Enter the Earth was the best kids book this old retired teacher has seen in a long time. I was so happy to have sustainable values wrapped in a story kids would love. Have told everyone!!!!
I got one of the first copies of Book 2, Gaia Girls Way of Water. Amazingly, it is even better than Book 1. The young heroine of Gaia Girls Way of Water must deal with the loss of her oceanographer parents, & being sent to her only relative, a Japanese uncle she has never met. There she finds that her other family, dolphins, are in harm's way, as is the ocean itself.
Once again the heroine acquires powers to help,from Gaia,appearing as a sea otter this time!
This is the perfect summer read (as is Book 1) for kids who care about the planet...or kids you would want to have care!
There really aren't words for how strongly I urge you to get these books for any kid you know. You read 'em too! I'm 64 and couldn't put it down!

Gaia Girls - Enter the Earth
I teach high school biology and environmental science. This is a great book for teenage girls and boys. It will appeal to girls because the hero is a girl who is going to have special powers to save the planet. There are actually several characters and the themes are friendship, courage and trust. Excellent environmental educational tool. Our children are our future and we need to invest in their education and teach them "environmentally friendly family values."
