Canned Pebbles

A bowl of hummus usually starts with a pan of garbanzo beans, but for a last-minute invitation to a pot-luck I went with two cans from Whole Foods.

My food processor isn't the latest model, but this is still the first item to survive the steel blade even somewhat intact. I ran it and ran it but couldn't get the mixture smooth. The motor was overheating and I could still see hard dry lumps.

I tossed in the tahini and ran, but it was pretty bad. The texture was like crunchy peanut butter. The taste was wall paper paste touched with Tabasco. I was surprised to see anyone take a sample, but the person who took seconds had clearly been drinking.

I haven't liked very many of the 365 Everyday products I've tried, but these beans were the worst.
