Sun-Mar 400 Roll That Barrel!

I have been using the lSun-Mar composter since early 2007, and I am well-satisfied with it. It keeps everything completely contained and is neither unattractive nor messy. I have to do a lot more sorting and sifting of the 'finished' compost than it appears from the advertising, but that's been true of any composter I've ever had. Living in a hot region, I have to add additional summer water to the composter to keep things moist and occasionally need to soak the raw, 'finished compost" overnight to work it. The only real problem has been the handle used to rotate the drum--two of them have broken off, and I'm now on my third! Still, the newest one appears much stronger than the originals, and I have found the Sun-Mar company very helpful, promptly mailing me replacement handles at no charge.
I like this composter, would buy another, and have recommended it to friends.

Sun-Mar 200

I recently purchased the Sun-Mar 200 composter. Instructions say to snap drum into the frame. The drum does not snap into the frame but merely rests in the frame holes. When loaded the frame bends outwards causing the drum to fall to the ground. I was able the get the drum to remain in the frame by adding two 5/16" threaded rods plate washers, locking washers and hex nuts. The top of the frame is still bent out 1/2" but the base where the rods are allow the drum to rest on the base. I have only had the unit three weeks so I have no idea if it will actually make compost. Sun Mar does not seem willing to respond to emails.

Sun Mar Garden Composters Provide Fresh Compost

The continuous feed design of the Sun Mar garden composter 200 and 400 allow you add kitchen and garden scraps/waste in the top and pull finished compost out the side due to the double drum design. We use ours for kitchen vegetable scraps and some yard waste.
