Food for people not profits since 1969
If you're a fan of Whole Foods--or even My Organic Market--do yourself a favor and visit Glut Food Coop in Mount Rainier. Decidedly a step a back in time to the earlier days of food coops, the lower prices will more than pay for your bus fare (or gas) for a round trip. And the culture experience is not readily available anywhere else. Don't miss the excellently priced selection of in-store packaged cheeses and the exceptional variety of juices. But check any rat-race impulses at the door; this is a community place as much as a business. The friendly prices reflect that.

Glut is an awesome store!
I've been shopping at Glut for over 16 years and I have never been disappointed with the variety and services offered. It is a funky, get-down place where folk or reggae music is always playing in the background, where plenty of bulk grains, nuts, fruits and veges are always available, with much food coming from local farms and businesses. I used to shop at the local Giant but I can't remember when I was there last as Glut has filled most (if not all) of my famiy's needs. Glut Food Coop, located in Mount Rainier, Maryland serves the local community with a variety of bulk foods, cheeses, fresh baked bread and smiles! Founded in the 60's this coop's flavor is revealed in their funky style of service as evidenced by their cooperative style and their choice of background music, rending from Reggae, Fold and Blues.
