Famous Manhattan hotdog chain.
Address map 2090 BroadwayI had a couple of "dogs" here last December, and it wasn't all that. I couldn't tell from eating their sausages whether they were better or worse than IKEA's 50-centavo hot dogs. Which are skinnier--anyone know? The so-called papaya smoothie drinks are nasty. They tasted chalky and I don't remember anymore but probably were served in styrofoam cups.
Then again, everyone goes here for the "rec"ession special. Not for health reasons. Not for organic outdoor-raised grass-fed Niman Ranch-branded hand-massaged organic-beer-battered pig meat. They ought to rename it the depression special! Too bad it's so far from Wall Street.
Cheap food by NY standards, if you're about eating out. I found a better place in CHinatown though. The boss of the store was pounding (and I mean whaling on) the noodles by hand right next to me while I'm trying to eat. Good, cheap, hopefully no MSG and delicious!
