In 2004 I started following the GreaseCar forum. By 2006 I found and bought a 1984 Mercedes and converted it to run on free waste veggie oil. The Installation book that came with the kit was worded in a way I could understand. I didn't know much about diesel cars. Cars for that matter. My co-worker in facilities said it wouldn't work and told me about the Myth Busters clip that confirmed it. I've since put 41,000 greasy miles on the car. Getting MPGs that would make a Prius owner jealous. 67% less emissions, too. "Drive Vegetarian" There are other kits out there but this one seemed to have all the parts to make it work, not including the filtration system.
Future plans will be to run my house on Solar.

The Worlds addiction to oil is a growing problem. Even though many alternatives are here such as hydrogen, ethanol and the electric car which is an old technology, theres more that can be done. The average person doesnt know that the diesel engine will run on streight vegitable oil. In fact, it was desighned on it! Rudolf Diesel invented it in the late 1800's but at the time petrolium was cheaper so it lost momentum. The people of Greasecar have brought this back with a conversion kit to convert any diesel engine to run on streight used vegitable oil that can be gotten for free at local resturaunts. I bought a kit for my 1984 mercedes 300sd which had seen nothing but petrolium diesel its whole life. After my first fillup of Diesel, costing me close to $40 i made the investment of $850 for the kit I installed myself. Greasecar really explains everything in the do it yourself directions and gives you everything you need for the install minus the tools. Since september of 2006 I have been running my car on used vegitable oil, only useing a slight bit of diesel on start up until engine tempatures allow the coolant heated fuel cell to thin the viscosity of the vegitable oil so it can slide through the injectors. The engine runs quieter, smoother, and the best part is its free! The filtering of used vegitable oil can even be fun and only takes a few minutes of your time. Greasecar has really made a product that works, is cheap, and helps the enviroment. It has saved me more money then it costs!
