David C. Cook's GREEN Caring for Creation is a comprehensive starter kit for Christians to plan a Creation Care event, to encourage local churches and communities to be environmental responsibility. This boxed Green Kit comes with everything you need to plan and promote your church's community environmental outreach with over 50 resources.
From the David C. Cook website, here is the list of what comes in the eco-friendly boxed-kit:
(1) Family Kick-Starts CD-Rom: Get families involved with four weeks of Green-themed devotions, activities, and service projects.
(2) Program Elements CD-Rom: Includes schedules, PowerPoints, activity suggestions, hands-on illustrations, additional project ideas, and much more.
(3) Promotional Resources CD-Rom: Includes everything you need to successfully promote your Green event.
(4) Event Guide: An easy guide to planning and running your Green event.
(5) Outreach Cards: 20 great ideas for environment-friendly, community-serving projects.
I bought my Green Caring for Creation Kit at Powell's bookstore in Portland for $39.95. On the David C. Cook website, the kit costs $49.99, so you may want to check with your local bookstore first before ordering online. I opened my box to check out the contents. The Event Guide is a 48-page, easy-to-read booklet to walk you through the resources that come in the kit and how to order your steps in planning your event. The Family Kick-Start is a 57-page PDF with four weeks of devotionals and activities for every age group. The Outreach cards are large format (5.25"X8"), two-sided cards with a scriptural reference on one side and a green project on the other, like making your own green cleaners. The reproducible promotional and outreach materials are nicely done... including the 'thank you' cards to send attendees. Overall, I think this kit is a very good tool for individuals, families and churches to explore environmental issues together, take action and impact their local communities.
