Green Goats cutting emissions 80-90% - decreasing fuel consumption 40-60%

Hybrid trains are an emerging technology coming from RailPower, located in Erie, Pennsylvania. They were developed to cut emissions 80-90% and decreased fuel consumption 40-60%.

Back in 2002 and 2003, Union Pacific tested Green Goats, diesel-electric hybrid locomotives, while in the experimental stage, in California and Chicago train yards. RailPower has technologies that will use the cleaner natural gas to replace diesel, and converting mechanical energy, delivered by gas turbine, into a useful form of AC electricity.

I just read today that European scientists have reported the ozone hole has shrunk by 1/3...maybe we can't accurately measure how much weight to put on this remarkable analyze as to what this really means, but we could take this news as an encouragement that perhaps some of these cutting-edge eco-technologies and corporate eco-policies such as this one, are making a difference.
