Green Mountain Energy

I have been a customer of Green Mountain for 4 years. Over the years they gave me all sorts of problems about the meter, how they couldnt read it or get to it, but the meter is on a side of the house that I do not have access to, which I explained to them MANY times. In the last 3 months my bills doubled inexplicably, and when I called they offered no help with why they were high, or anything regarding that fact that I had been a loyal customer for 4 years. I was so appaled at their customer service that I switched that day to Reliant energy. Well now greenmountain is sending me additional bills and have been calling me repeatedly trying to get me to come back as a customer, but will not acknowledge why these bills are so high, other than "we cant read your meter so we are estimating." in the last 2 months I have paid $500 for electricity. That is ridiculous for a single person. These people are crooks and whats even WORSE is that they are affiliated with the better business bureau, which makes filing a complaint next to near impossible and most probably useless. DO NOT sign up with these people.

DO NOT USE GREEN MOUNTAIN ENERGY

I moved into a house right after Hurricane Ike. The home had serious hurricane damage that I didn't realize until after I signed the lease. Needless to say the home was inhabitable and I wasn't living there. I took the landlord to court and the judge granted to break the lease agreement. This was a 3 month time frame. The first few bills were extremely low and it made sense because I wasn't living in the home. Finally I get a 4th bill for $800. They said my meter was broken and they went back to recharge me for all of those months. I was horrified I got on the phone w/ a representative and she explained to me that they normally don't make any adjustments on bills. They told me that they have to bill the customers whatever Centerpoint is charging them. Which doesn't make sense. The company brags on being low rates low rates. They get you in a give you low bills so that you are happy in the beginning ant then they come back and overcharge you and say "Oh we had to go back and re adjust your bill from the previous months." What a rip off. NEVER AGAIN. LEARN FROM THIS IF IT IS TOO GOOD ITS NOT GOOD AND YOU WILL PAY FOR IT IN THE LONG RUN.

Green Mountain Energy- Texas

I give this company a 5 star rating. I signed up with them while after an enduring shopping trip in HEB. Get this, by signing up I was breaking my contract with TXU so I had to pay a cancellation fee of $200.00. In the first three months I saved $300.00. Not only that, but the company itself is great! Even if it wasn't one of the more reasonably priced companies, I would still be with them because customer service is top of the line, I've reduced my carbon footprint by 50%, and they've been completely on top of everything for me. You are definitely making a mistake by not switching over; with this company you know that what you see is what you get. They arent after profit they ar after improving the environment!

Not all it's cracked up to be

Green Mountain, Once was from the Green Mountains of Vermont but is now located in Texas. In NY State it was giving wind power to customers but then reduced the amount of wind power it gave to its customers (down to 10%) and raised its prices. While it sells this little bit of wind power in NY, it stopped building wind farms in NY State. If you are in NY, the best wind power company is Community Energy (many environmental groups use Community Energy). If you are in another state, look carefully for the best providors and consult with local environemntal organizations before making your choice. There are likely to be other wind power companies that give more wind power than this company.

Green Mountain Energy Company

I have been a Green Mountain Energy customer for 6 months now and love it!

I really feel good about doing my part to help the environment and this is an easy way to do it. We receive the Cleaner Times, a bimonthly newsletter, which contains our environmental impact since becoming customers. Basically it is a chart that shows the number of pounds of CO2 avoided, trees planted and miles not driven simply by us choosing cleaner energy.

I have also had great customer service. The company cares about it's customers and it's cause. This kind of commitment from an energy provider is unheard of. They are strictly a green energy company, which is impressive. How many energy companies can say that? Plus, they have been doing it for over 10 years!

Renewable Energy for Everyone

Green Mountain is a great energy company. They allow you to purchase renewable energy that was produced in your area, not somewhere else in the country. This way you are offsetting carbon emissions in your local area.
