could this be fraud?

Between 1/09-7/09, I have sent five gift baskets as thank-you's to the wonderful people on my medical team at the University of Florida. I just found out that the baskets have not always arrived when they were promised and more importantly when I PAID extra to expedite the shipping. When I contacted customer service I was told that they have no way of tracking shipments. I was shocked! How can you take my money for a service you may or may not be able to provide I asked? Needless to say, I am very dissapointed with the service. I also feel this is a form of fraud! They were very happy to charge me $25.00 extra for shipping, but never called to tell me they were unable to provide the service I paid for. Sounds like fraud to me. Well Harry and David, you just lost a good customer. I guess I will use Dean and Deluca from now on. Judyb

The Best Fruit...Guaranteed

I have been ordering from Harry and David's for over 10 years and have never been disappointed! Not only do I find their fruit to have the best flavor, the one time I got over ripe fruit, I called and they sent me a new batch - no questions asked. This is also one of my favorite places to order gifts. For business gifts I order items which arrive monthly with a gift card, keeping me on my clients' minds.

I also love their candy and baked goods.

Overall, a great company!

Green Gift Baskets of Colorful Fruit

There are times when a gift basket is the right thing to send to a friend or family member, and of course you want your gift to be good for the planet. Only recently did I learn that Harry and David (which you might know for its perfect fruit) offers a "green promise." I thought it was worth bringing this to light, as not only do they follow practices that are good for the environment but they especially strive to be great corporate citizenship.

A few examples from their website:

* By encouraging customers to shop the Internet, we've been able to eliminate over 37 million catalogs and have saved over 4,500 tons of paper since 2003.
* Our paper must contain only wood fiber from sustainable forests, never from endangered forest ecosystems.
* Our recycling program began in 1989. We've recycled over 23,000 tons to date!
* Royal Riviera® Pear orchards offset more than 24,000 tons of CO2 each year, thanks to our 800,000 trees.
* We plan to double our production of certified organic Royal Riviera® Pears by next year.
* Increasing ground shipments and strategically locating distribution centers reduced our CO2 output by 4,500 tons annually.
* We encourage employees to use mass transit by providing free monthly bus passes.
