"It's a Go!" for Cribbage Board by Heartwood Creations

Ever since I was a kid, I've played Cribbage. My dad taught me and played Cribbage with me and my brother. Over the years, I've played Cribbage with my husband, taught and played with our girls, and played with friends. Points of play unique to the game are combinations of 15, pairs, triplets, a flush, a run, the Crib, "31 for 2" and "It's Go!"...I really like the game of Cribbage.

This fall, I took my mother to Sattva Gallery in Eugene to shop for a gift. When I wasn't looking, she sneakily managed to buy me a beautiful handmade wooden cribbage board on display, made by Heartwood Creations. During the holidays, my husband and I have enjoyed sitting by the fire, sipping Oregon pinot noir, and playing Cribbage with my new board, while listening to NPR, Chris Botti and Diana Krall's Christmas music...sooo relaxing, and simple fun with fond memories attached.

I was so pleased to learn that Heartwood is passionate about the environment though they love making wooden boxes and games. In 1990, the owner decided to replant trees. Their partners are American Forests' GLOBAL RELEAF, Arbofilia, Hardwood Forestry Fund, Illinois Conservation Foundation, and Trees Forever. For every tree Heartwood Creation uses to make wood products, ten trees are planted. Since 1990 Heartwood has planted over 100,000 trees, not only in North America but Costa Rica as well. Some of their other handmade in America wood products are: secret and secret mirror boxes, jewelry/valet boxes, puzzle boxes, 7-drawer jewelry boxes, key chain key/compass boxes, desk accessories, and laser art basket assortments.
