Natural herbal spray, under arms deodorant.
For some situations – say, a backpacking trip – deodorant is optional. For others, well, it’s not. Enter Burt’s Bees herbal spray deodorant. It stands out on the shelf because it’s in a recyclable aluminum can, so it doesn’t have to go in the trash when you’re finished with it. Inside is a concoction that’s mostly herbal, smells spicy and really works. It looks pricey ($8 for six ounces), that bottle could last you a year, so it’s actually quite affordable.
On a larger scale, Burt’s Bees has made a corporate commitment to be carbon neutral by 2020 and operate on 100 percent renewable energy. Their office and manufacturing facilities “will have” LEED certification, presumably by then.
Downside: This definitely does not work when you’re already stinky – for use on clean pits only!
Cost: $8 for six ounces
