Restaurant offers an International menu to please both vegans and non-vegans alike.
Address map 531 Divisadero St.If your pocketbook doesn't allow for frequent outings to Cafe Gratitude or Millennium, please consider Herbivore (and Cha-Ya!) as your staple "date night" restaurants.
The Herbivore in the Western Addition is really my favorite -- they have a nice back patio which is protected from the wind and just perfect for a late morning brunch. Everything they serve is vegan and they make fresh juices -- even to mix into your mimosa!
I'm a big fan of the corn cake, and their soups are really good. Don't miss the biscuits and gravy - that's delicious. There are so many good dishes there, I recommend a group outing for your first visit so you can all try a lot of different items.
Pricing is very reasonable and parking is usually not difficult. There are plenty of bus lines that go down Divisadero or Fell -- you can't go wrong with Herbivore!

I have been a vegetarian for two years and often going to a regular restaurant often means that you only have a couple of choices, and you hope that those choices are good ones. Herbivore gives many choices and it's pleasant to be around people who are also vegetarians.

forget for a second that this place is all vegan. i bring ALL of my friends here, with no warning of the lack of animal products. Most people have no clue, even after perusing the extensive menu. Brunch on the back patio is DIVINE, the black bean scramble with vegan sour cream is a great choice, also the cinnamon rolls (no eggs, no dairy) are brilliantly sinful. also good organic beer and juices etc.
