What's Love Gotta Do with It?
What's passion and love got to do with being organic farmers? Everything! When you visit the hey bayles! farm website, the Poynter family will tell you why.
Every Tuesday, around 9:00 a.m., Jennifer or John drives up in the hey bayles! truck, a cornucopia of freshly picked, just-boxed, organic produce, to drop off Lorane's weekly CSA orders at Ellen & Kyle's. All I have to do is walk across Old Lorane Road to get ours. Even though we get the small regular box, there is always more than we can eat in a week, so I share our order with our daughter and her husband. We eat our veggies raw or lightly steamed with herbs from our garden or spices from Mountain Rose Herbs. The fruit is usually ripe, ready to eat, so we enjoy them right away.
Fresh produce is so beautiful - green, red, orange, yellow, white, purple and brown; lively, firm, cool to the touch, slightly damp, smelling of rich nutrients and good soil. It brings out the passion and love for God's green earth in me too!
