How to Make Kids Crafts from Trash!

Instead of spending a ton of money on kids toys that they will only play with a few times, then lose interest in them or break them, just have them help you make your own!!

What You'll Need

  • Light Bulbs
  • Paper Mache Supplies
  • Old magazines, junk mail, or any other old paper trash to use for decorations

Instructions

Step 1: Use the paper mache supplies (there are a lot of different versions of paper mache, use whatever you like best) to completely cover the light bulbs, at least 2 of them.

Step 2: After the paper mache is dry, you lightly tap the light bulbs on a hard surface until you can hear all of the glass inside them break.

Step 3: Decorate the lightbulbs with the paper scraps... You can glue on stripes of magazine print, add ribbons, whatever you want!

Step 4: You know have the beginning of your own band :) You have maraca's! You can add in lots of other "instruments" as well. Teach them how to blow on the tops of old milk jugs, use old jars filled with different amounts of water to tap on like drums, a box and some rubber bands can make a guitar.... My nephews looooove this.

I do this all the time with my kids. Instead of throwing things away, we keep a huge box of odd and end leftovers, canisters, etc. We pull out the box every few weeks and make everything from robots, houses, boats. My son loves to build things...and tear things a part so we use and reuse. We don't buy ANY new toys except christmas and birthdays.
