Indigenous Designs

I love indigenous clothing! From the way they are committed to put a product out that is non-toxic to the people who harvest the raw materials to the people who make the clothing to the people who wear the beautifully designed styles. Knowing that Indigenous Desings truly care about the world and the people who live in it and the people who live in their groovy clothes makes me want to support them and other green companies. Here's to Indigenous and their environmental leadership! May other companies learn from you and help make the world what we need to live and flourish. Thank you.

Snicerely,

Barbera Simpson

love Indigenous

I love Indigenous. They are true pioneers in the organic + fair trade apparel movement. I've seen them grow since they started in 1994 before anyone hardly knew what organic apparel was. Their sweaters are wonderful, soft and cozy and make you feel good inside and out. Their children's clothing is the cutest and the best!!!!! I always feel good to buy Indigenous and support the movement which is growing fast now - thank goodness!

When Fashion Meets Fair Trade

When you are able to purchase a great looking garment that is flattering and gorgeous to look at, but is also made with fair trading practises, you know you have found the ultimate piece of clothing. The fact that the team at Indegenous Designs "gets it" so much that you end up wearing clothes that are so well made and compete with any other designer out there, but are made with sustainable methods that yield the people who are actually creating the product with fair and sustainable living wages makes is compelling. It makes me feel much better about myself and my enjoyment of buying great looking clothes. It's nice to know that in buying the product, I have also helped someone out there accross the globe making a better standard of living than they would have otherwise, and that I'm not just passing the buck on to a large company that pockets 99.999% of the price tag which does not take the time to ensure that the clothes it sells are made both ethically and sustainably.

Over the last few years I have collected several handknit cotton as well as wool cardigans; I have cotton and wool jackets and some wool sweaters. I love the feel, the comfortable fit, the style and the fact that I can always find several colors I like. I feel good when I wear their clothing because I often receive compliments which is an opportunity to mention the fact that it is "green" as well as Fair Trade. What a great way to do something good for our world. I should also mention that my husband wears the organic cotton shirts and wool sweaters with pride. Giving the childrens clothes as presents is a big treat for all. The clothes could not be more adorable and what a great feeling to know you are putting something "green" on a child.

My Favorite Sweater

I have several Indigenous Designs garments, but my favorite is a russet-color turtle neck sweater with an iteresting geometric design knitted around the middle in beige, grey,& brown. I love wearing it for 3 reasons: It looks great with everything - skirts, pant- and the colors 'work' all through Fall and Winter. Second, the alpaca-wool blend is wonderfully soft, with NO scratchiness. And, best of all, every time I wear it, I get compliments! Everyone wants to know where I bought it, and I am happy to tell them, "It's Indigenous!" Dorothy

Talk about sustainable...

I have a hand-knit sweater from them that was made in Peru, which I have had for quite a few years now.
Although it says hand-wash, I have put it in the washer many, many times (as I wear it quite a bit). Anyway, it has held up fantastically to the abuse, and still looks good- no pilling or shape distortions. Really well-made, and on a cost-per-use basis, this has been a very economical buy.

Rich Palette

The Indigenous artisan collection for women with flattering, sexy lines to frame the feminine body are gorgeous! The fall palette and textures are fabulous. Price points are a tad high for most working gals in this economy, but worth saving loose change to add accent pieces to add extra flair to a classic or romantic wardrobe.

stylish sweaters!

I own several sweaters from Indigenous and I love them. The colors and fits are great, so I always feel my best wearing them. The children's line is adorable, my two year old is always happy when he's wearing his doggy sweater!

smart clothes.

Thank you Indigenous Design for not only having a product that is good for the planet but also good for me. I have bought blouses and sweaters for my daughter my mother and for myself and I am not sure when I last was able to do one stop shopping that was both fashionable and good for the planet.I hope that I will soon be able to find your products in many more stores.

great mens shirts

I have two button up mens shirts from indigenous. I feel and look great in them. The colors and fabrics are unique and beatiful. The quality is great, not sure if they are handmade, they sure feel that way. It is great wearing them because they was produced in an economically sustainable and all around helpful manner.

The most beautiful green, and I love green.

My green, hooded, lacey, crocheted-looking sweater with the billowy sleeves had brought me much joy and many many compliments. It's beautifully made, fits well, and is soft and comfortable. I usually don't spend this much money on clothes, but this was well worth it. I'm going to reward myself by buying one every year!

Fabulous Sustainable Fair Trade Clothing

The quality and style of this company's clothing is outstanding! They were one of the first and are still one of the best eco-fashion companies out there.
